The Joys of Skype!!

I'm sure anyone who has ever been in a long distance relationship knows how hard it can be sometimes. I know you don't know our story quite yet (coming soon, I promise), but Aaron and I certainly have had our fair share of days where we wish there weren't 2500 separating us. But oh the joys of technology and our very favorite means of communication, Skype! Nothing beats quality time in real life...but if you can't have that, we would definitely argue that Skype is certainly second best!

I remember the first time Aaron asked me to do Skype. I was a little hesitant just because we didn't really know each other that well and I thought it might be kinda weird and awkward. Boy, was I ever wrong!! That was such a fun night...I even remember what he was wearing...some cut-off t-shirt that had the Godfather logo on it. How I remember that and how he got ahold of a t-shirt like that is totally beyond me. Ha!

We've spent hours upon hours on the computer (I think our Skype record is like 14 hours!!!...Impressive, huh?) but it really never gets old....ok, that's a lie...it does get old, but we're very thankful to have it for now! Aaron is 3 hours behind me, so often times he gets off work and I'm already in bed for the night. But he'll call, well get on Skype and most of time, we both end up like this....
Hahaha!! I've slept on the couch more in the past 8 months than I have my whole life (I share a room with Beth and she doesn't usually like to be kept up by our late night visits)....and Aaron has to sleep with his light on so I can see him :) We're big nerds, we know! But until we can be together for reals, we'll take whatever we can get!

 Love, love!

Cupcake Heaven...

So tonight we are having a going away party for Bethy's Drew because he heads off to spring training in Arizona next week (his first full season of professional baseball! Woot woot)! We are SO excited for him and can't wait to see all the awesome things God has in store for him and his baseball career!

A couple weeks ago we ran across a really cute blog who had this recipe for some AMAZING cupcakes. We, in all our cupcake loving glory, decided to try them out and lets just say....HELLO heaven!...and hello treadmill for the next 3 weeks! Haha!

We decided that since they were such a big hit (and Drew loved), we'd make them again tonight for the party. Say hello to the DELICIOUS Chocolately Chocolate Snickers Cupcakes...

 Ingredients:

Cupcakes
1 box Devils Food Cake Mix
1 box Jello Chocolate Fudge Instant Pudding Mix
4 Eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup milk
1 cup sour cream

Chocolate Mousse Filling
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups milk chocolate chips
...You could half this and still have plenty to fill 24 cupcakes!

Chocolate Buttercream Icing
1 Stick softened butter
2 1/2 to 3 cups confectioners sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
About 2 tbsp milk
...We double this recipe for 24 cupcakes...

Topping
Chopped Snickers Minis

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 24 cupcake tins with liners. Combine all cupcake ingredients and beat well...about 2 minutes.

Add batter evenly into each of the 24 cupcake tins. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center. Remove the cupcakes from the tins and let them cool.

For the chocolate mousse, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring ever 30 seconds or so. Set aside to cool. While chocolate is cooling, whip the heavy whipping cream with a mixer until stiff peaks form. Fold melted chocolate into into whipped cream until well combined. Transfer mousse into a piping bag and when cupcakes have cooled completely, press the tip of the piping bag into the center of the cupcakes, squeezing as you pull the tip out. Fill all the cupcakes :)

For the chocolate buttercream icing, beat the butter, powdered sugar cocoa and vanilla until well combined. Add a tablespoon of milk while mixing until a nice icing consistency is reached. Place icing in a piping bag to pipe icing onto the cupcakes as we did, or just spread on :)
Chop up your Mini Snickers with a knife on a cutting board and sprinkle on top of the frosted cupcakes...

...and VOILA...
 ...ENJOY!!

We'll let ya know how the party goes...Love, love!

Introducing....US!!! :)

So...for our first blog post, we decided to tell y'all a little about ourselves, which just happens to go perfectly with this weeks Show Us Your Life over at Kelly's Korner

Here is a little about each of us....

Meghan

Meg is a 24 year old, 1st grade teacher and spends the majority of her free time at Walmart. Ha! (No, seriously!) She LOVES to cook and is REALLY good at it. She has an unhealthy addiction to Chick-fil-A, TGI Fridays Jack Daniels Ribs and the T.V. show Criminal Minds!
She has such a strong passion for the Lord and worship and is part of our church's worship team. She can seriously play the piano like no other and has such a beautiful voice. She sometimes likes to act tough, but she has one of the sweetest hearts of any girl we've ever known! She is the best, most beautiful big sister and we love her so much!
...And, watch out fellas!... she's single and ready to mingle!!! :)

   Brittany

Britt is 22 and is the oldest twin...by a whole minute! She is a senior in biology at Morehead State University (as well as Bethany) and they will both graduate in May. She is probably one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet, and probably the nicest out of the three sisters! :) She would do absolutely anything for anyone...as long as it wasn't illegal, of course. And she is known for laughing at the most inappropriate times...she just cant help it! Ha!
She loves Jesus with all her heart and also plays the piano for our church's worship team. She is dating a great guy named Aaron who is a police officer in Washington (yes...the state on the other side of the country from us!) and spends lots of time talking to him on the phone and on Skype. That crazy story is to come...don't worry!
We love our sweet sister so much! She's the best!

Bethany

Beth is the youngest twin and definitely the feisty one of the three of us. She has the best sense of humor and is certainly the funniest! She can come up with the funniest things to say...in the funniest voices...to make us just roll in the floor laughing. She isn't afraid to tell you how she feels, but knows how to do it with a lot of love.
She is engaged to a wonderful guy, Drew, who just got drafted by the Chicago White Sox last year. She's planning her September wedding which will be nothing less than absolutely gorgeous!! Most importantly, she has such a sweet love for the Lord and a passion for serving him.
She is by far one of the sweetest, most loving, beautiful girls you could ever meet....she's definitely got the whole package. We love her more than she could ever know!

...We are so excited for our blog and hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy sharing it!
Love, love!
